Stepping outside this evening, I looked east to be greeted by a cloudscape that stopped me in my tracks. Not the fiery reds and oranges of a noteworthy sunset but, to a "darkophile" such as myself, a more subtle yet equally memorable sky rippled in off white and gun metal grey. I looked on mesmerised as the near full moon crept into view to the accompaniment of a pair of courting tawny owls, the hoot of the male and the "kewick" of the female loud and clear in the still night air .
Have you heard of "gravity wave clouds"? I hadn't until this evening.
